Building on the success of last year’s festival, where we put Coalville on the stage through stories rooted in our town and community, this year’s theme invites artists to continue exploring Coalville through the lens of myths and legends.
Step into worlds where ancient stories meet fresh perspectives. This collection of projects explores the enduring power of myths, legends and folklore, reimagining familiar tales and uncovering forgotten ones. From heroic quests and supernatural encounters to local folklore and cultural traditions, these performances examine how stories passed down through generations continue to shape our identities, fears and hopes.
Whether inspired by Coalville’s own hidden histories and local folklore or by myths from around the world, we welcome imaginative storytelling, bold interpretations and journeys into the extraordinary, where the line between history and legend is never quite clear. Together, we’ll continue discovering new ways to put Coalville on the stage.
